Sister Margaret C. (Mary Jeanette) King SNJM

Sister Margaret C. King died June 11, 2001, in the Care Center of the Convent of the Holy Names in Spokane.

The vigil service was held June 13 at the Convent of the Holy Names, with the funeral held at the same place the next day.

Margaret King was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Seattle to Winfred and Helen Deasey King. She was the youngest of five brothers and sisters. She was educated in Seattle at Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Holy Names Academy.

She entered the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1939, the third of her sisters to do so. She took her vows in 1941. She received a bachelor of music in Education from Marylhurst College in 1950 and advanced study at Mundelein College.

Sister Margaret taught music in elementary and secondary schools in Oregon and Washington from 1940-1970. In 1971 she began doing parish ministery, and later facilitated spiritual self-improvement groups, tutored, volunteered, and offered ministry within her own Religious community.
