Hilaria Espinoza

Hilaria Espinoza, wife of Deacon Andres Espinoza, died Nov. 19 in Pasco.

The rosary was Nov. 21 at St. Patrick Parish, Pasco. The funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 23, also at St. Patrick. Burial followed at City View Cemetery, Pasco.

She was 75 years old.

She was born in McAllen, Texas, and married Andres Espinoza in 1945. They moved to Pasco in 1966.

She was an active parishioner at St. Patrick, involved with Cursillo, as a Eucharistic minister, in the Guadalupe Women’s Auxiliary, and other parish activities.

She is survived by her husband, Andres; brothers Francisco and Jose Mencho Garcia, Edinburg, Texas; sisters Guadalupe Garcia, Anton Texas, and Julia Garcia Lopez, Strawn, Texas; 12 children; 30 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Sister M. Blanche Becker SSND

Sister M. Blanche Becker of the School Sisters of Notre Dame died Dec. 1 at Good Counsel Provincial House, Mankato, Minn. She was 89 years old.

Vespers were prayed for her the evening of Dec. 4. The funeral Mass was the following day.

She was born near Gilbertville, Iowa, where she was educated by School Sisters of Notre Dame. In 1926 she followed her sister Mary in entering the SSND community. She entered novitiate in 1931 and made first profession the following year.

She held degrees from Holy Names College, Spokane; the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.; and certification from Mt. Mercy College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Her teaching career some 50 years in schools, parishes and in religious education programs. Included among her school assignments were periods spent in Spokane, Clarkston and Omak.

She retired in 1992.
