CROPwalk to benefit hunger programs worldwide

the Inland Register

(From the Feb. 28, 2002 edition of the Inland Register)

The annual CROPwalk, which raises money for anti-hunger efforts around the world, will be held for the first time this year on a Saturday.

The 2002 walk will take place Saturday, April 27, with registration beginning at noon at Martin Centre on the Gonzaga University campus. The walk itself starts at 2 p.m. on the Centennial Trail nearby.

Walkers raise money through pledges toward the distance covered during the event. Among the organizations which can be listed as beneficiaries is Catholic Relief Services, the U.S. bishops’ overseas development and emergency relief agency.

Seventy-five percent of the funds raised is distributed to overseas hunger relief organizations. The remaining 25 percent is used locally.
