Bishop’s Medal awarded to Walla Walla parishioner

by the Inland Register

(From the July 4, 2002 edition of the Inland Register)

Pat Garanzuay, a member of St. Patrick Parish, Walla Walla, was presented with the Bishop’s Medal May 31 during a ceremony at St. Patrick’s Blanchet Hall.

Making the presentation on behalf of Bishop Skylstad was Father Steve Dublinski, the diocese’s new vicar general and himself a native of Walla Walla.

Garanzuay retired after 13 years as director of Helpline of Walla Walla, a non-profit organization which provides direct service to the needy and coordinates other social services in the Walla Walla area.

She was honored for her tireless service on behalf of the organization. Speaking of her dedication and accomplishments were local mayors, pastors, and communitiy leaders.

In her parish, Garanzuay is a Eucharistic minister and a member of the parish’s liturgy committee and Comité Hispano.

She recently completed a term on the parish’s pastoral council.
