Bishop Gregory to be interviewed on PBS Aug. 2

by the Inland Register

(From the Aug. 1, 2002 edition of the Inland Register)

Bishop Wilton Gregory, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), will be the guest of journalist Bill Moyers on the PBS program Now with Bill Moyers on Friday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m. on PBS-affiliate KSPS-TV, channel 7 in Spokane.

Now is described as “a mix of documentary, conversation, essay and commentary segments.”

Msgr. Francis Maniscalco, Director of Communications of the USCCB, calls Moyers “one of American television’s most recognized and respected journalists.”

In addition to his award-winning work as a journalist, Moyers holds a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

The interview will be Bishop Gregory’s first since the formation and membership appointments were announced for the bishops’ National Review Board. The board, a high-profile group of laity, will monitor the new policy on sexual abuse.
