To help get out the word about some of its many ministries in the Spokane Diocese, Catholic Charities has created a “Good Works in Action” day.

“Good Works in Action” is especially geared to help spread the word about the programs, particularly to people living outside Spokane County, according to Scott Cooper, Catholic Charities’ Director of Parish Social Ministry.

The event, set for Thursday, Oct. 17, will give participants the opportunity to learn first-hand about three of Charities’ main efforts in Spokane: the House of Charity, St. Margaret Shelter, and St. Anne Children and Family Center.

The day is specifically structured to enable the three programs to be visited during the course of their normal, everyday activity.

Those interested will gather at 10 a.m. at the House of Charity, 32 W. Pacific in downtown Spokane. The visit will include a tour and an opportunity to serve lunch to the patrons, followed by lunch for participants.

St. Margaret Shelter, 101 E. Hartson, is the next stop. St. Margaret Shelter ministers to homeless women and their children. Stories will be shared of how the shelter has changed people’s lives for the better.

The third stop will be St. Anne Children and Family Center. The Center offers assistance of various kinds to families with young children.

The day will conclude there, with prayer at 3:15 p.m.

RSVPs are requested by Oct. 11; call 358-4273 or (800) 831-1209.
