Sister Sedonia (Providence) Doyon SP
Providence Sister Sedonia Doyon died Dec. 11 at Mount St. Joseph, Spokane. She was 93 years old; she had been a Providence Sister for 72 years.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 14 at Mount St. Joseph. A vigil service was held there the evening before. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, followed the funeral.
She was born in St. Camille, Quebec, Canada. When she was a young child her family moved to Scobey, Mont. She later graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Missoula, Mont.
She entered the novitiate two years later in Seattle. She professed final vows in 1934.
In 1936 Sister completed the requirements to become a registered nurse. She later earned bachelorís and masterís degrees in nursing, from Seattle University and The Catholic University of America, respectively.
Her life as a Religious was spent in health care ministry, including Gonzaga Universityís Health Center in Spokane and the infirmary at Mount St. Joseph, Spokane. She retired to Mount St. Joseph in 1981.
