Father Donald Cozzens, author of two recent books analyzing the state of the Catholic Church in the United States, will speak Friday, April 25, from 8-9:30 p.m. in the Spokane Room of the COG on the Gonzaga University campus.

Father Cozzens’s talk, “Standing in the Fire: Laity and Priests Look to the Future,” is co-sponsored by the diocese and Gonzaga’s “Catholicism for a New Millennium” series.

Father Cozzens is a former serminary rector. His two most recent books are titled The Changing Face of Priesthood: A Reflection on the Priest’s Crisis of Soul, published in 2000, and Sacred Silence: Denial and the Crisis in the Church.

The Changing Face of Priesthood took first place in the professional books category of the Catholic Press Association’s annual awards, announced in May 2001.
