Retreat hosted at Mary Queen Parish for girls 11-18

The Lilac Catholic Girls’ Club will be hosting a retreat for Christian girls age 11-18 on Saturday, May 10, at Mary Queen Parish’s hall, 3423 E. Carlisle in Spokane.

The Lilac of the title is an acronym: “Living Inspiring Lives Always for Christ.”

Theme of the retreat is “Behold, Your Mother!”

The day begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 6:15 p.m., with lunch provided by the Knights of Columbus. Guest speakers include:

Father Paul Vevik, pastor of Mary Queen. He will talk on “Mary Our Mother.”

Dr. Catherine Tkacz of Gonzaga University will speak on “Friendship, Courage and Convictions.” Dr. Tkacz is the author of I, Rachel.

Sheila Donovan will soon join Mother Teresa’s Sisters of Charity Religious community. Her talk is titled “Modesty, Chastity and Vocation.”
