Sister Ethel Patterson OSC

Sister Ethel Patterson of the Monastery of St. Clare, Spokane, died June 12 in Spokane. She had been a member of the Poor Clares Religious community for 75 of her 93 years.

The vigil service was June 16. The funeral Mass was celebrated June 17. Both took place at the monastery.

She graduated from Holy Names Academy before entering cloistered Religious life in 1928.

Ann Louise Malnar

Ann Louise Malnar, mother of Father Stan Malnar, died at her home in Vancouver, Wash., on June 25.

A memorial Mass was celebrated July 2 at St. Joseph Church, Vancouver.

Mrs. Malnar was 89.

She was born Ann Louise Zurga in Kansas City, Kan. She married her husband, Rudy Malnar, and the couple and their children lived for many years at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, as well as in Eugene, Ore., and Spokane.

Her husband died in 1994.

She is survived by her son, Father Stan Malnar of Spokane, and daughter, Joyce, and son-in-law, Frank Divers, of Vancouver.
