Over 160 children and youth and 60 volunteers participated in Vacation Bible School July 21-24 at St. Joseph Parish in Otis Orchards.

“SonHarvest – Growing the Fruit of the Holy Spirit” was the theme this year. The children learned about growing love, sprouting joy, planting peace, producing patience, and picking kindness.

Each day included a time for Bible stories, skits, singing, crafts, recreation, and snacks. The children were encouraged in Christian behavior by earning tickets for various good deeds and for lessons remembered, and the tickets were spent in a “country mercantile.”

About 250 people enjoyed a community BBQ and potluck on the closing evening of the week. The children performed their favorite SonHarvest songs for family and friends.

Due to the support of generous donors, all received a theme T-shirt and a music CD with the VBS songs.

The program was directed by Gina McCauley, April DeNike and Teresa McCann.
