Seminary education campaign continues progress through second parish group
by Dan Inman, for the Inland Register
(From the April 8, 2004 edition of the Inland Register)
As of Wednesday, March 31, the campaign office has received pledges and gifts totaling $5,734,900 from 2,997 gifts. This represents 57 percent of the overall goal of $10 million, from less than 12 percent of diocesan families.
Block II parishes have completed the second commitment weekend and will be doing follow-up for the next couple of weekends. The parishes have done an excellent job in educating their families about the important needs of the diocese and Bishop White Seminary.
Block III parishes phase will begin after the Easter holidays. There will be a total of 35 parishes participating in the Block III. The total goal for the Block III parishes are $3,133,938. This final phase will be completed in June.
The Annual Catholic Appeal will not be conducted in parishes during 2004. The 2004 Annual Appeal is included in the “Here I am, Lord, send me” capital campaign. The Annual Catholic Appeal will return in 2005.
Gifts can be made as a pledge payable over four years, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually to fit the individual’s need. Donations of stock, life insurance policies, charitable remainder trusts and bequest provide other opportunities for individuals or families to make a gift. Please contact Steve Kocharhook at 509-3584283, for more information on these planned giving opportunities.
Please pray for the continued success of the campaign.
The $10 million goal breaks down this way:
• $4.5 million to add to the endowment for the education of seminarians.
