the Inland Register

(From the April 29, 2004 edition of the Inland Register)

Three Spokane Diocese youth were among the winners in the recent Knights of Columbus Washington State free-throw competition.

The event took place March 20 in Yakima, at Holy Family Parish. The competition involved boys and girls in age brackets from 10 to 14 years old, throughout Washington.

The Spokane Diocese first-place winners are:

Sara Metzger, sponsored by Spokane KC Council 4196, for girls age 11, made 19 out of 25 shots.
Kelsey Schalock, from Chewelah Council 2155, was first for girls age 14, with 19 out of 25 shots.
Joseph Cuerrinha, Spokane Council 4196, took first place for boys age 11, with 22 out of 25 shots.

All state champions receive a recognition certificate from the Supreme Council office.

This was the 31st year the Knights have sponsored the competition.
