Seminary ‘Here I Am, Lord,’ capital campaign tops $9.1 million

the Inland Register

(From the July 1, 2004 edition of the Inland Register)

The year-long capital campaign, Here I am, Lord send me, is drawing to a close.

The active phase Block III of the capital Campaign will be wound down on June 30. Pledges have reached 91 percent of the $10 million goal. More than 5,900 families have made a gift or pledge to the campaign.

The follow-up phase of the campaign will continue for the next 12-18 months.

Because of the size of the diocese, the campaign was separated into three blocks: Block I (Fall 2003), 10 parishes; Block II (Winter 2004), 29 parishes; Block III (Spring 2004), 33 parishes. Block I parishes have reached 111 percent of their assigned goal; Block II has reached 81 percent of goal.

Block III is currently at 63 percent of goal, with more follow-up to be done. (Click here for a PDF chart of parish campaign progress. Requires Adobe Reader.)

All campaign blocks were limited to certain time frames for the presentation of the information, but there is no time limit for gifts toward the campaign. The campaign office is still receiving pledges from Block I and Block II parishes.

Gifts can be made as a pledge payable over four years, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually to fit the individual’s needs. Donations of stock, life insurance policies, charitable remainder trusts and bequests provide other opportunities for individuals and families to make a gift.

For more information for the campaign please contact the diocese’s Director of Development, Steve Kocharhook, at 509-358-4283.

Please pray for the continued success of the campaign.

The $10 million goal breaks down this way:

• $4.5 million to add to the endowment for the education of seminarians.
• $1 million for operational expenses for the seminary.
• $3 million for the construction of a new Bishop White Seminary.
• $1.5 million for the 2004 Annual Catholic Appeal
