Jerry Welk and Mary Curtis made their perpetual profession with the secular Franciscan order at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Spokane, June 5.

The Secular Franciscans are a community of Catholic men and women who seek to pattern their lives after Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis Assisi.

After a six-month inquiry stage, potential members spend about a year in the candidacy stage, followed by perpetual profession: promising to live the rule of St. Francis of Assisi for life.
