St. Peter Parish KCs continue tradition of successful blood drives
the Inland Register
(From the Nov. 11, 2004 edition of the Inland Register)
On Sunday, Sept. 19, the Knights of Columbus Council from St. Peter Parish, Spokane, sponsored another successful blood drive.
Parishioners donated 41 pints of blood for the parish blood bank at the Inland Northwest Blood Center.
The first drive the KCs sponsored was in fall of 2000. Since then, the Council has sponsored two blood drives a year, with 383 pints of blood donated to date. The blood is available to any parishioner with medical need.
The blood drives are successful because the Knights promote this “fraternity in action” project in conjunction with generous parishioneers willing to give the gift of life for their fellow community members.
Parishes interested in holding their own blood drives can contact the Inland Northwest Blood Center, or St. Peter Parish’s Grand Knight, Jim Mansfield, at the parish: 534-2227.
Donor ages are 16-66 years and any healthy person can safely give blood up to five times a year. The INBC also needs volunteers to assist as drivers, aides, clerks, or in preparing and serving lunches for donors.
