Franciscan Sisters with Eastern Washington ties celebrate jubilees in Pennsylvania

Some 75 members of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia celebrated jubilees of Religious life last month at Our Lady of Angels Convent, Aston, Pa.

Among the jubilarians were a number of women Religious who have served or are serving in a variety of ministries with the Diocese of Spokane.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the community.

One silver jubilarian is Sister Maureen Cosgrove, now ministering as program director for Miryam’s House. She also has served at St. Joseph Children’s Home in Spokane.

Sister Maureen Fox also is a silver jubilarian. She has been Executive Director of Social Services at St. Anne Home, and Social Worker and Assistant Director of St. Joseph Children’s Home.

Sister Raphael Balduc celebrated her diamond jubilee – 75 years of Religious life. She taught at Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Tekoa, Wash., and at St. Charles School, Spokane.

Sister Francis Paula Bader was honored for 70 years of Religious life. She served at St. Joseph Family Center, Spokane.

Five of the golden jubilarians have ties to the Spokane Diocese.

Sister Carmel Gregg has been Director, Counselor, and Spiritual Director at St. Joseph Family Center, and taught at St. Charles Borromeo School.

Sister Assunta Prunty taught at Trinity and St. Charles schools, Spokane.

Sister Jean Ustasiewski was Director and Counselor at St. Joseph Family Center, Spokane.

Sister Marie Francine Campbell taught at St. Charles School.

Sister Thomasann Quinn also taught at Charles School and ministered as well at St. Joseph Home.
