Losing a deacon

I have just received my “Dear Parishioners” letter from St. Augustine Church, confirming the dreaded, but feared, confirmation that Deacon Gary Cooper may no longer remain a deacon because he will marry in July.

Deacon Cooper has been incredibly effective and productive as a deacon since 1980, and his loss will be enormous. What can the “Powers that Be” in Rome be thinking to persist in this terribly unfortunate legislation?

This 89-year-old Catholic is extremely disappointed.
