Tea party at the O'Malley

the Inland Register

(From the Nov. 10, 2005 edition of the Inland Register)

Several ladies and one gentleman had a wonderful time at an autumn-themed tea party held at the O’Malley apartments, one of the Catholic Charities senior housing developments. The late September tea was hosted by Social Service Coordinator Lynnette Jensen and two of the residents, Karen and Julie. Delicious homemade treats were provided, and residents were invited to wear hats. The prize for most beautiful hat went to 90-year-young Mary, who demonstrated a “model runway walk” with a style rivaling that of any supermodel. Silliest hat award went to Vickie, who modeled a large fringed straw hat. Most creative: Walletta. She had placed a bright scarf around the band and sewed plastic fruit all around the brim. Seated, from left, are O’Malley residents Therese Smith, Mary Roush, Nelda Myers, and Julie Hendricks; standing, from left, are Karen Zachau, Shelvy McGeehee, Dianne Nelson, Vickie Drew, and Walletta Hayes.
