Caroling tradition continues

the Inland Register

(From the Dec. 15, 2005 edition of the Inland Register)

The Christmas Caroling Group from Morning Star Boys’ Ranch performed Dec. 5 at The O’Malley, a Catholic Charities-sponsored senior housing complex in Spokane. Ron and Marsha Feller, parishioners from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane, have directed the caroling group since 1966, bringing Christmas cheer to retirement centers, church groups and service organizations in the Spokane area. As one or the residents at the O’Malley remarked, “It just wouldn’t be Christmas without the boys from the Ranch.” This year’s program included solos, traditional carols, a special Christmas story and sing-alongs with O’Malley residents. The carolers’ appearances also included The Academy, Cathedral Plaza, Lincoln Heights Congregational Church and Canterbury Court. Morning Star is a Residential Treatment facility for boys ages 10 through 17. The Ranch depends on the generosity of the community for funding; the caroling group is one way the staff and boys give back to the community. (IR photo from Morning Star Boys Ranch)
