On Nov. 10, the evening before the Veteran’s Day Holiday, 24 youth and 12 adults from St. Patrick Parish in Pasco participated in a change drive for the needy. The change drive took the form of a scavenger hunt, with teams going out in vans to knock on doors and ask neighbors throughout the Pasco community, asking for donations of pocket change to help feed hungry people.
Giving the youth inspiration for their hunt was a song written by Bob Halligan, Jr. and Linda Halligan and sung by Ceili Rain. The song, titled “Change In Your Pocket,” includes these words: “With the change in your pocket you could change the world.” What is spare change to many people is money that can make a difference in someone else’s.
The winning team would collect the most change in a two-hour period. The teams collected $808.65, donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food bank. On Sunday, Dec. 4, a check was presented by the Chairperson of the event, Traci Nolan, along with Pablo Monroy, to John Henricks, who represented St. Vincent DePaul.
