The Catholic Youth Celebration – CYC – will be taking place Friday-Sunday, March 24-26, at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane.
The annual event draws youth groups and youth ministers from throughout the diocese and the Northwest for a weekend of workshops, prayer, and activity.
This year’s theme is “TAT – Today and Tomorrow.”
Keynote speakers this year are David Casey and Doug Tooke, combining theater and music for youth ministry from their home bases in Montana.
Tooke has been a youth minister in Montana and Washington, where he heads Catholic Youth Rural Outreach, a cooperative rural youth ministry in the Diocese of Helena that serves six individual parish communities.
He creates events, training opportunities, and advocates parish visitation as well as morning youth Bible study.
David Casey, Tooke’s brother-in-law, is a long-time musician, singer-songwriter, and youth minister. Casey and Tooke have been busy with traveling youth ministry for a number of years, particularly in the Northwest.
Sunday’s events will include Mass with Bishop William Skylstad.
