Temple Beth Shalom’s kosher dinner set for March 12
the Inland Register
(From the Feb. 23, 2006 edition of the Inland Register)
Temple Beth Shalom’s 65th annual Kosher Dinner will be held Sunday, March 12, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the temple, 1322 E. 30th Ave. in Spokane.
Each year, Kosher Dinner guests enjoy an authentic kosher beef brisket dinner including appetizers, traditional Jewish side dishes and dessert. Prior to dinner, attendees view a variety of Jewish entertainment in the temple’s sanctuary.
Temple Beth Shalom serves Jewish households in the greater Spokane area, southern British Columbia, northeastern and southeastern Washington state, northern Idaho, western Montana and northeastern Oregon.
This year’s entertainment includes Spokane’s very own Klezmer band, Chutzpah. The Mavens will also be performing well-known songs of Jewish composers. New to this year’s entertainment will be a jazz group, The Kosher Redhots.
The event also offers homemade baked goods and gift items for sale.
Volunteer Dick Rubens has been working the Kosher Dinner for more than 50 years. “We are giving others a chance to share in our culture and heritage, while getting to know our fellow community members,” he said. “We are your neighbors, your friends and we want people to see we are part of the Spokane community.”
Last year, more than 2,200 satisfied community members enjoyed the dinner and entertainment.
Community members should buy early, as the event tends to be a sell-out.
Tickets can be purchased at the following locations:
• Hupppin’s Hi-Fi Photo and Video – 419 W. Main St.
Tickets will be available at the door the day of the dinner, along with convenient take-out orders. Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $6.00 for children under 11.
