(From the Feb. 23, 2006 edition of the Inland Register)
Pax Christi USA “strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating, and witnessing to the call of Christian nonviolence,” according to a statement on the organi-zation’s web site.
The Spokane chapter of Pax Christi USA will hold a special event, from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, in the Catholic Pastoral Center, 1023 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane. This event is open “to all peace-minded people,” according to Holy Names Sister Anne Bosserman, secretary for the local chapter.
The event will include a guest speaker, yet to be confirmed. Local veteran Catholic peace activist Al Mangan, a member of St. Joseph Parish, Spokane, will receive Pax Christi Spokane’s Person of Peace-Making award.
Information will also be shared by various members concerning discussions regarding a possible Peace Studies Program at Gonzaga University; the connection between Pax Christi Spokane, the Diocese of Spokane, and the U.S. Institute of Peace; the World Peace Forum; and peace activities within Spokane’s ecumenical community.
