Glad to Be Catholic
the Inland Register
(From the June 8, 2006 edition of the Inland Register)
• I am so lucky and very proud to be Catholic, because in the Catholic Church I am conscious of Jesus, true God, alive in Blessed Sacrament. He reveals himself to those who look for him. I had had problems, and put all my hope in him. I prayed often, I went to Mass daily, and I confess every month, so as to be in good grace.
During a charismatic Mass, the homilist said that Jesus will never be outdone in generosity. When I came here in exile, my fellow countrymen advised me to adhere to other churches who would help me. I refused, because of this intimacy with Jesus that I find in Catholic Church. The priest of a Catholic parish in Bellevue helped me financially, for my asylum papers. When I came to Spokane, Scott Cooper welcomed me as a member of the same family, and entrusted me to Gregory Cunningham, who helped me in many ways. My apartment is furnished with furniture from Catholic Charities. Other members of the Catholic Church helped me financially to find my two sons.
The Catholic Church is a family of God where we don’t make any racial distinction. I am very happy to be a part of the Catholic Church since my birth.
