Sunday, Dec. 10, James Peak of the Diocese of Spokane was promoted to the rank of Major in the Unites States Army Reserve.

The promotion came based on the recommendation of the Congressional Committee on Military Promotions and approved by the President of the United States. Lt. Col. Phil Cuccia of the U.S. Army was present for the ceremony.

Peak is currently in his fourth year of formation at North American College, Rome, and pursuing a masterís degree in spirituality from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Prior to entering seminary, he served eight years on active duty for the U.S. Army and has since served three years in the Reserve. He spent last summer in pastoral ministry at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane.

After ordination, he will return to the Diocese of Spokane to serve in pastoral ministry.
