Spokane public radio offers seasonal programming

National Public Radio affiliate KPBX, 91.1 FM in Spokane, will be offering a number of seasonal programs during the remaining days of Advent and the Christmas season.

Dec. 21: Footprints to Paradise: A Medieval Christmas, 7 p.m. Christmas stories presented in the style of Britainís mystery plays.
Dec. 22: Handelís Messiah, from Philadelphia, 9 a.m.
Dec. 23: Spokane Kids Christmas: highlights of holiday programs performed by the Spokane Youth Symphony and Spokane Childrenís Chorus, noon.
Dec. 24: Choral Arts Society Christmas Concert, 10 a.m., featuring seasonal works from England and a Christmas Cantata by Argentine composer Ariel Ramirez.

  • Christmas from Spokane: highlights of the best of the regionís holiday concerts, 8 p.m.
    Dec. 25: Lessons and Carols from Washington National Cathedral, 9 a.m. A broadcast of the Christmas Eve service.
  • Christmas with the Philadelphia Singers, a concert of traditional and contemporary holiday music, 10 a.m.
  • Messiah! With soloists from the Metropolitan Opera, 11 a.m.
  • KPBX Holiday Card: Seasonal readings and music, from the staff of Spokane Public Radio, 6 p.m.
    Jan. 1: The Johann Sebastian Bach Christmas Oratorio, 7 p.m. Performed by the Collegiate Chorale and soloists at Carnegie Hall.
