Father Joseph Pash: 1918-2007

Rev. Joseph J. Pash, a priest of the Diocese of Spokane for over 57 years, died Feb. 15, 2007.
The vigil was held Feb. 19 at St. Augustine Church, Spokane. The funeral Mass was celebrated there the next morning. He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Father Pash was born on Sept. 3, 1918, in Lawrence, Mass.
He studied at St. Anselm, Manchester, N.H.; St. Mary, Baltimore; and St. John Seminary, Brighton, Mass., before he was ordained a priest on May 6, 1948, in Boston, by Cardinal Richard Cushing.
Later that year he came to the Diocese of Spokane, where first served as assistant pastor of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane, and taught religion at Marycliff High School. He later served as temporary administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Dayton, before his appointment as pastor of St. Agnes, Ritzville, in 1957.
He ministered as pastor of the parishes in Harrington and Colville, and in Spokane, of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Augustine parishes.
He also served on the diocese’s Liturgical Commission.
He retired in 1988.
