Morning Star on parade

the Inland Register

(From the April 12, 2007 edition of the Inland Register)

The boys of Morning Star Boys’ Ranch rode down the streets of downtown Spokane as participants in the 29th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. According to Ranch program director Brian Barbour, “The parade is a wonderful opportunity for the boys to work on and enhance their interactive skills with adults and with the community.  They have a great time!” Nine boys from the Ranch, two staff members, and several volunteers piled in the back of the green 1947 Chevy grain truck used as the Ranch’s float, donated by Darl Prouty, a member of the Ranch’s Board of Directors. The boys of the Ranch also attended the parade. Morning Star Boys’ Ranch offers a caring environment to help at risk boys, many of whom are neglected or abused, become contributing citizens of Spokane. Nearly 1,300 boys have passed through the doors of the Ranch during its 50-year history. (IR photo courtesy of Morning Star Boys’ Ranch, Spokane)
