Former Franciscan charged with molestation in Bonner County
the Inland Register
(From the Aug. 23, 2007 edition of the Inland Register)
Louis Ladenburger, who served twice as a Franciscan priest in the Diocese of Spokane, was charged May 31 with molesting two teenage boys in Bonner County, Idaho. The boys attended Elk Mountain Academy in Clark Fork, Idaho, where Ladenburger had been working as a mental health therapist.
Ladenburger left the priesthood and the Franciscan order in 1996.
Although he was accused of misconduct while a Franciscan priest, those accusations did not involve minors, according to a statement by the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province.
The Franciscans’ records indicate that he served as associate pastor of St. Ann Parish, Spokane, from August 1975-November 1976, and from November 1976-March 1980 as pastor of Mary Queen of Heaven Parish, Sprague.
Any individual who wishes to discuss any issues regarding Ladenburger during his time as a Franciscan is encouraged to contact the Santa Barbara Province’s Pastoral Outreach Coordinator, Angelica Jochim, at 1-800-770-8013, or the Diocese of Spokane’s Victims’ Assistance Coordinator, Mary Butler, at 353-0442 or 998-8340.
