(From the Sept. 13, 2007 edition of the Inland Register)

House of the Lord Retreat Center, Tum Tum, is sponsoring an-all day Interdenominational Praise and Worship Gathering on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with the theme “That They May All Be One” (John 17:21).

Speakers for the day include Bishop William Skylstad; The Rev. Dr. John Roddam, Senior Pastor of St Luke Episcopal Church in Seattle, the church associated with Dennis and Rita Bennett during the Charismatic Renewal of the 1960s and ’70s; Sister Linda Koontz, a well-known evangelist and teacher from El Paso, Texas, involved with the Charismatic Renewal for 30 years; and Rev. Dr. Jerry Malone, retired Army Chaplain and former professor at the Moody Bible Institute.

In 1974, Ramona and Larry Salvatore built the House of the Lord Retreat Center. The very first Praise Gathering was held in 1977 and ran annually until 1990. The Retreat Center has been newly refurnished, and this year’s Praise Gathering will be the first since that time.

Two groups will provide the music for worship: Vasali, a group from the Spokane Valley under the direction of Chuck Moore, and Jim and Denise Mannino from St. Stephen Parish, Renton, Wash.

Participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch and their singing voices for this festive occasion to celebrate and praise the Lord. A tent and seating will be provided. Lawn chairs are welcome. Drinks will be available to purchase, and a freewill donation will be collected.

For more information, call (509) 276-8137 or (509) 466-8384.

House of the Lord Retreat Center is located at 5285 Rail Canyon Road, Tum Tum.
