Volunteer orientation, training set for Spokane AIDS CareTeams

the Inland Register

(From the Dec. 20, 2007 edition of the Inland Register)

Volunteer orientation and training for Spokane Multifaith AIDS CareTeams will be Saturday, Jan. 12, at St. John Vianney Church, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled through 4:45 p.m.

The training session is for volunteers interested in taking part in ministry to AIDS patients. CareTeams minister with compassion through practical, emotional, and spiritual support for individuals or families living with HIV/AIDS – doing “the things friends might do.”

CareTeams consist of 7-15 members who meet monthly to plan their service to the patients and/or families. The object is not medical care, and there is no risk of infection from any volunteer activity.

The training is sponsored by Catholic Charities Spokane, in collaboration with Spokane AIDS Network.
