Sisters of Providence host Vocation Discernment Live-in Weekend

Single women age 18 and older are invited to a Vocation Discernment Live-In Weekend hosted by the Sisters of Providence in August in Spokane.

Topics will include hearing Godís call, the process of discernment, ministries, vows, and the steps in entering Religious life.

The gathering will begin at Mount St. Joseph, 9 E. 9th Ave., at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, and continue through 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. There is no charge for the weekend, which includes free meals and lodging.

Court Washington #196 names ĎCatholic Daughter of the Yearí

The Catholic Daughters of the Americasí Court Washington #196 named Lucy Littman its Catholic Daughter of the Year. She was chosen at the April 22 meeting.

Ms. Littman has been a member of the Catholic Daughters since 1999. She is involved with a number of the groupís core activities, and is a regular donor of flower arrangements to Court activities.

In her home parish of St. Joseph, she is a member of the Altar Society and an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

She also serves the wider Spokane community as a member of the Lilac Festival.

Visiting the Sisters

St. Mary School seventh and eighth graders recently visited the Sisters of the Holy Names Convent. Students met the sisters, toured the convent and grounds, participated in Mass, and had lunch there. The visit is arranged annually as a part of the studentsí community service. Pictured is Holy Names Sister Rose Theresa Costello (center) with several students from both grades.
