Relics venerated in Pasco

the Inland Register

(From the July 3, 2008 edition of the Inland Register)

In the 1920s, during the “Cristero War” in Mexico the government tried to abolish religion in public. Priests and Religious lost their citizenship and all their rights. Among the approximately 300,000 people who died during this war, six Mexican priests who were also members of the Knights of Columbus were killed. The six were canonized in 2000 by Pope John Paul II. The United States Knights of Columbus brought relics of the six saints to this country. St. Patrick Parish, Pasco, was blessed with the opportunity to display and venerate the relics on June 1. The relics were displayed during all Sunday Masses at St. Patrick. (IR photo courtesy of Father Alejandro Zepeda)
