Medal ceremony

the Inland Register

(From the Oct. 2, 2008 edition of the Inland Register)

Early in the morning of Sept. 5, the Bishop White Seminary community gathered at the seminary construction site to place three blessed medals and a holy card in the slab of the new chapel floor. Seminarians placed a medal of St. Clare, in honor of the Poor Clare Sisters of Spokane who have prayed for the success of this project for several years; a medal of St. Dominic, in honor of the Dominican Sisters of Spokane, who donated two wood carved statues from Germany which had stood in their chapels in Tonasket and Colville for over 60 years and will be placed in the new seminary chapel; and a medal of St. Thomas Aquinas, in recognition of his philosophical and theological work which is so central to the academic formation of seminarians. The holy card depicted St. John Vianney, honoring his role as patron saint of parish priests.(IR photo courtesy of Bishop White Seminary)
