‘Come and See’ vocations retreat

the Inland Register

(From the Oct. 23, 2008 edition of the Inland Register)

On Oct. 3-4, the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, welcomed 12 young women to their first “Come and See” retreat, held at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center. Attendees age 17-27, from a wide variety of backgrounds, came from as far away as St. Louis, Mo., and as close as North Spokane to experience life with the Sisters.During the event, the young women experienced a snapshot of the Sisters’ life, including Eucharistic adoration, recreation, common prayer, and presentations on the Sisters’ apostolates. Additional talks on consecrated life with question-and-answer sessions completed the day’s events. Father Darrin Connall, director of vocations for the Diocese of Spokane, offered Mass, and the retreat ended with dinner and an informal concert of some of the Sisters’ favorite songs. New candidates will be accepted into the community in the summer of 2009. The next retreat is scheduled for Dec. 5-6.
