Celebrating the special people in children’s lives

the Inland Register

(From the Dec. 18, 2008 edition of the Inland Register)

Grandparents’ and Special Persons’ Day is an annual event celebrated on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at St. Mary School in Spokane Valley. Students invite grandparents and people special to them to come to the school for a morning of events to celebrate their relationships. Parent volunteers plan for morning refreshments, church decorations, gifts crafted by the students that are given to the attendees. Students and their guests attend Mass together and each class prepares a special presentation for the program afterward. After Mass everyone gets to go back to the classrooms for refreshments.
