Why I Give to the Annual Catholic Appeal: Lori Anderson

the Inland Register

(From the Feb. 5, 2009 edition of the Inland Register)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

This is one of the eight Beatitudes that Jesus taught during his lifetime to the crowds everywhere he went. You may recall that there were seven other Beatitudes we learned in school. This particular one strikes home to me for many reasons.

In my volunteer work I have seen many people in need of help. In today’s news we hear how people are losing their jobs. This means the home food supply will be affected.

A wonderful person, my mother, told us children growing up, “if you have a roof over your head and food in your tummies, you should thank the Lord for his blessing every day.” This is a great program the diocese has set up, to be there to help others that are in need. We all would be blessed to give to this wonderful program. It’s such a rewarding gift when you do this. Only a few dollars every month, or whatever sum that you can afford, would be so appreciated.
