As construction concludes on the new Bishop White Seminary, several events, public and private, have been scheduled to mark the landmark event in the history of the Spokane Diocese.
Space is limited at Bishop White, and so several different occasions have been put on the diocesan calendar. The church’s intense interest in the new facility is very encouraging, said Father Darrin Connall, rector of Bishop White, and so the celebrations have been spread out over several months, in order to accommodate several specific constituencies.
The first series of events is by invitation only:
Monday, May 4: Dedication of the altar and first Mass for seminary community, faculty, and Gonzaga University administration.
Sunday, June 7: Open House for women Religious of the diocese.
Tuesday, Aug. 4, the Feast of St. John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests: Blessing of the seminary and Open House for diocesan priests, Jesuits, Francis-cans, diocesan vocation directors and bishops of the region.
Aug. 10, the Feast of St. Lawrence, patron saint of deacons: Vespers and reception for deacons of the diocese, their wives, and those in diaconate formation.
Open to the general public:
Sunday, Sept. 13: Day-long diocese-wide Open House and reception, with tours of the building.
