(From the June 11, 2009 edition of the Inland Register)
“Praise the Lord at All Times” will be the theme of the Inland Empire Catholic Charismatic 2009 Conference, set for Friday and Saturday, June 19 and 20, at St Peter Church, on Freya between 18th and 19th in Spokane.
This year’s conference features as its main speaker Father Dan Wetzler, the diocese’s co-liaison to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Carol Krum will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Several workshop presenters have scheduled, including:
“In the desert I will make a way,” from Isaiah 43:19-21, will be the main topic by Carlos Vigil, presented in both English and Spanish.
Father Wetzler will speak on “From Church to Kingdom,” exploring the importance of praise in Scripture.
Andi McGoran will speak on “The Testimony of Word: Books of Faith,” discussing how sharing faith can touch the lives of others.
“Theophostic Prayer” as a means of healing life’s hurts, by Mark Lamb, will include a question-and-answer session.
Denise and Jim Mannino of Renton, Wash., are former residents of Tum Tum and long-time members of the Charismatic Renewal. They will join Father Wetzler Saturday morning for a presentation on the importance of music as a means of leading people from praise to worship.
At the Saturday afternoon general session, Carol Krum will address “Living in Kingdom Power and Authority.”
Musicians from St. Joseph Parish in Otis Orchards, Maggie and Mike Eller, along with Kathy Adams, John Faerber, Doug Cornutt, Rob Skinner, Tom Wagoner, and Jarvis Woodard, will lead praise throughout the conference. The conference ends Saturday evening with a Mass for Healing open to all. Healing teams will be available to pray with individuals.
There is no registration fee for this conference, but participants must register in advance to help organizers plan for workshop space. Registration forms can be downloaded from the Renewal’s web site: http://www.ieccr.org
A freewill offering will be collected to help defray expenses.
The office of the Western Washington Catholic Charismatic Renewal will be on hand with books used by the workshop presenters and other items of interest. Talks will be audiotaped for sale.
