Dominican Sister Alberta Nett celebrates 70 years of Religious life this month.
Originally from Berghausen, Germany, Sister Alberta entered the Dominican community in Speyer, Germany, in 1934. She came to the United States at the age of 17, with 21 other young Sisters.
She made her profession as a Poor School Sister of St. Dominic of Speyer at Kettle Falls, Wash., in 1939. That congregation became the Dominican Sisters of Spokane in 1986, and merged in 1995 with the Sinsinawa Dominicans.
Most of her ministry has been in health care, including work at St. Joseph Hospital in Chewelah, Wash.
She also served her community as Provincial, from 1962-70.
She presently resides in Chewelah.
