Immaculate Heart Retreat Center hosts ‘Mary Day’ Oct. 10
the Inland Register
(From the Sept. 10, 2009 edition of the Inland Register)
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will be hosting a diocesan Mary Day on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 1-3 p.m.
The tradition of Mary Days dates back to the 1950s and ’60s in the Spokane Diocese, launched by the late Bishop Bernard Topel in 1958. The diocese was consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the late Bishop Charles White in 1948.
Among those participating this year will be Bishop Skylstad, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church. Clergy also have been invited to attend.
The day will include a procession, singing of Marian hymns, recitation of the rosary, crowning a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, and renewing the diocese’s consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
A reception in the Retreat Center dining room will follow.
