St. Joseph Parish, Colbert, is hosting a parish mission the evenings of Feb. 14-17.

Each evening will begin at 7 p.m.

Leading the mission will be singer/songwriter Vince Ambro-setti, a Grammy-nominated recording artist whose sang his composition “Sanctuary” during the Communion procession of Blessed Mother Teresa’s funeral Mass.

The parish mission, “Awaken Our Hearts,” will begin with a concert by Ambrosetti at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14. Each mission presentation on the following evenings will also begin at 7 p.m.

Feb. 16’s evening will include a reconciliation service. The mission will conclude with Ash Wednesday Mass.

Besides his vast music ministry – he has recorded more than 25 CDs and composed over 350 songs – Ambrosetti has conducted over 500 parish missions through the United States, Canada, and Europe, as well as in Israel and the Philippines.

He often cites the late Redemptorist Father Lucien Deiss, a noted liturgist and composer, as one of his earliest influences in the composition of sacred music.

“Music is a powerful communicator, expressing that which words often cannot speak,” Ambrosetti said in a press release. “Through music, Word, ritual and story, we rediscover that the values of the world around us ought not be our ‘reality’; rather, our reality is our faith in the Risen Christ, pervasive to the whole of our lives. This rich tradition combined with the Word of God through the Sacramental journey is the schematic by which we are called to live.

“I want to enliven and inspire people of faith and, through music, touch the hearts of those who cannot be reached by words alone.”

St. Joseph Parish is located at 3720 E. Colbert Road in Colbert, Wash. Father Edgar Borchardt is the pastor.
