Colbert parish hosts Angus McDonnell concert April 24
the Inland Register
(From the April 8, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)
St. Joseph Parish in Colbert, Wash., is proud to present Angus McDonell in concert on Saturday, April 24, at 6:45 p.m., immediately following the 5:30 p.m. Mass. A reception will follow the concert.
McDonell is a composer with a contemporary vision for Catholic music. He writes from the heart, fashioning poetic and dynamic music for liturgy and listening. His song “River of Life” was chosen as the theme song for the 2003 National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Houston. Angus’ debut CD, River of Life, was released in November, 2003.
McDonell’s passion to draw souls to Christ was instilled in him from camp counselor days. His studies in theology (B.A., Seattle University) and music (B.A., University of Washington; M.A., Northwestern University) fit him well for this mission.
McDonell’s deep love for the Lord, the Church and God’s people fuel his passion for this ministry. He has performed at major youth events nationally and internationally, including four World Youth Days, three National Catholic Youth Conferences, four Franciscan University High School Youth Conferences, and numerous parish, diocesan, and university events.
McDonell serves as the Director of Youth Ministry for Assumption and Sacred Heart parishes in Bellingham, Wash., where he lives with his wife, Twila, and their two children, Josie and Lorry.
“My greatest joys are my faith, family, and those I minister to through music in the Catholic Church,” said McDonell.
