Diocesan Vocations Office plans for new year
the Inland Register
(From the April 29, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)
Father Darrin Connall (right), Director of Vocations and rector of Bishop White Seminary for the Diocese of Spokane, is currently in the process of accepting and processing seminary applications for the fall semester.
“The number of inquiries regarding seminary and discerning a vocation is quite solid right now,” he said. “We are seeing a slight increase specifically among high school age men.”
Each potential seminarian undergoes a screening process which includes an 18-page application, psychological evaluation, medical exam, reference letters, and a Washington State Patrol background check.
In addition to processing applications, the Vocation Office is also planning for the third annual “Quo Vadis Days” vocation retreat for Junior High and High School age boys, coordinated by Deacon Jeff Lewis. This year’s camp will be held from July 6-9 at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center.
Father Matthew Nicks will be the priest chaplain.
