Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will hold its 10th Catechetical Evening of Prayer on Tuesday, Oct. 26, with Father Charles Skok (right), moral theologian. He will speak on Chapters 28-30 of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, on the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Commandments.

Father Skok was among those solicited to review sections of the Catechism for Adults before its approval by the United States Catholic bishops in 2004.

The cost for an Evening of Prayer is $35. Mass begins at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 5:35 p.m. Conferences start at 6:30 p.m., with a Q & A session and time for reflection.

• On Nov. 12-14, IHRC will sponsor its first Suicide Survivors’ Retreat, titled, “Beauty for Ashes: Transforming Loss,” based on Scripture from Isaiah 61.

Presenters Anne Cronin Tyler and Karen Covey Moore are experienced in ministering to suicide survivors.

Suicide can happen in any family and for unexpected reasons. These qualified veterans will walk participants through exploring the grief that comes from losing a loved one to suicide, discover the gifts that are contained in the ashes, and enter the transformation that is offered to us by God in order to move forward with courage, confidence and strengthened faith, integrating pain with joy.

The cost of the retreat is $170, $270 for couples or $100 for commuters.

• Father Stan Malnar MD returns to IHRC to again present his retreat titled “Living with Grief” the weekend of Nov. 19-21. The cost of the retreat is $170, $270 for couples or $100 for commuters. To register for these or other IHRC events, call (509) 448-1224 or visit www.IHRC.net.
