Building for the future

the Inland Register

(From the Nov. 11, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)

Design work for the repair of the retaining wall at Immaculate Conception Church, Republic, was performed by firms of the Nine Mile area, Jerry Peterson, dba J.P. Consultants; preliminary work of tying the old wall to the bedrock under the parking lot was done by Lewis Martin of Martin Design; and final work of building the new wall and pouring the walkway from the church to the hall was done by Jess McDonald dba McDonald & Son with the electric heat in the walk done by Nate’s Electric of Republic. The new railing will be installed by Randy Hitchcock of Republic. The cost of the project came to about $143,000. Thanks to a loan of $40,000 from St. Anthony Parish, Spokane, the Republic parish was able to meet all of its obligations. The people of Republic are now thankful that the church on the hill will remain an attractive landmark for another 100 years. (IR photo courtesy of Father George Morbeck)
