the Inland Register

(From the Dec. 2, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)

Among opportunities for spiritual growth around the holiday season, Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Rd. in Spokane, is offering the following:

• Immaculate Heart Retreat Center (IHRC) will hold a Day of Prayer on Wednesday, Dec. 8, with Msgr. James Ribble. The title of this Day of Prayer is “Come to the Stable!” Conferences will include answers to the questions, “When shall I go?” “What should I bring?” and “What will I find?”

The cost is $30. The schedule includes recitation of the rosary, conferences with Q & A and time for reflection, confessions, lunch and Mass.

• IHRC is sponsoring its second Serenity Retreat of the year on the weekend of Dec. 3-5, titled, “How Big Is Your God?” by Sister Mary Schumacher of the Society of the Sacred Heart. The retreat will focus on the Twelve Steps.

Sister Mary is a 21–year veteran of sobriety and a licensed professional counselor at Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. She will address trauma and grief in the ongoing process that those in recovery from addiction and alcohol will find familiar, integrating it in the on-going process of conversion that includes many spiritual awakenings.

The cost of the retreat is $170, $270 for couples, or $100 for commuters.

• Finally, IHRC welcomes back Jesuit Father Michael Maher for his retreat for all Knights of Columbus and their families, focusing on “Family Life and Prayer in the Modern World,” Jan. 21-23, 2011.

The retreat is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus of Richland, Wash.

The cost of the retreat is $170, $270 for couples, or $100 for commuters.

To register for any of these events, contact IHRC at (509) 448-1224 or visit the web site:
