New music CD to benefit St. Patrick School

the Inland Register

(From the Dec. 16, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)

A new CD of original music by Spokane Catholics premiered with the pre-release of the single “Do Not Be Afraid” on Dec. 14. The song, co-written and sung by Ed Sinclair (right), officially launches the project which has been in preparation for several months.

The song will soon be available online from the web site

The complete CD, titled Songs of Grace, Songs of Healing, will feature original songs written by Sinclair or co-written with Rick Markealli and Kathryn (Murphy) Orozco. All of the composers have participated in the music ministry at St. Patrick Church, Spokane, for several years.

Many of the songs (“Jesus Heal the Brokenhearted,” “Believe in Me”) are regularly sung at the church. Others, such as “In Your Eyes,” which features vocals by students at St. Patrick School, are newer pieces prepared especially for this CD.

Sales of the CD will also benefit St. Patrick School.

The recording is available now until Christmas on a “pre-order” basis at the discounted price of $10.99. Contact St. Patrick School, 509-487-2830, or go online at or to The Kaufer Company Religious Supplies, 907 W. Boone Ave. in Spokane (509-326-7070.)

The CD is scheduled for general release Jan. 19, 2011.

Sinclair, Markealli, and Orozco previously comprised a major portion of the inspirational music group Joyful Noise. They performed concerts to benefit and assist area charitable and non-profit organizations in the 1990s, including Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, The St. Vincent de Paul Society, St Patrick School, and the West Central Neighborhood Association.

Sinclair is the owner and manager of The Kaufer Company, a Catholic-based gift, book, and supply store. Ma-rkealli and Orozco are both professional educators.

Joyful Noise released 2 albums featuring their own compositions, performed by themselves and by fellow members Joanne (Kiefel) Membrey, Grethia Rigsby, Rochelle Schultz, and Paul Schuster.
