Dominican Sister Virginia Pfluger to celebrate jubilee

Dominican Sister Virginia Pfluger will celebrate her 50th jubilee in July 2011.

A Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound, Sinsinawa, Wis., on Sunday, July 17, for her and 20 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 50 years.

Her Religious name was Sister Marie Florence.

Sister Virginia’s home parish is St. Patrick, Rockford, Ill. She is the daughter of the late Eugene and Cecilia (Vollmer) Pfluger.

Sister Virginia’s ministry has been dedicated to administration, education, and social work.

In the Diocese of Spokane, Sister Virginia worked in congregation ministry at the Dominican Center, Spokane, 2008-2010.

She also ministered in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and the dioceses of Peoria, Madison, and San Jose.

She also served the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation as the first director of development, 1979-1986, and as a general councilor, 1990-1994.

Sister Virginia is currently living in community and volunteering in San Jose, Calif.
